Adobe unveiled new AI additions to its flagship Creative Cloud programs at this year’s MAX event. Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom are getting tools that automate time-consuming tasks and give you even more control over the creative process.
New AI Tools in Photoshop, Premiere Pro & Lightroom
Photoshop is getting Generative Fill from external AI models, such as Google Gemini 2.5 Flash and Black Forest Labs’ Flux.1 Kontext, in addition to Adobe Firefly. Users can choose between different models for each task, creating or modifying content through simple descriptive prompts – inserting objects, changing faces, or replacing image elements.
At the same time, the new AI Assistant in Photoshop for Web is being introduced in private beta, with capabilities for automatically editing files following descriptive instructions ("increase saturation", "modify layers", etc.), essentially functioning as a chatbot that utilizes the entire quiver of professional Photoshop tools.
Lightroom now features the experimental Assisted Culling, which analyzes large collections of photos, evaluates focus, angle, and clarity, and recommends the best shots for editing.
Firefly & Premiere Pro: New models, even more automation
Adobe’s Firefly Image 5 model can now produce native quad-resolution images (without upscaling), with even more realistic depictions of people and shadows. Prompt-based editing features have also been improved with a new Layered Image Editing tool that “understands” the context and adjusts shadows when objects move.
Modern video editors will benefit from Premiere Pro’s new AI Object Mask (in public beta), which automatically isolates faces and objects in footage, eliminating the need for manual pen manipulation. This makes color grading, blur/background replacement, and effects much faster and easier!
