Adobe has just released the newest updates to Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements. These versions have many new features that facilitate the creative process, in many cases with the help of artificial intelligence. Apart from that, there are other features that will delight photo and video editors.
Let's start with the AI features, which are powered by Adobe's new Sensei AI platform. On the Photoshop side, there's a new tool that automatically selects objects and backgrounds to remove, edit or replace. This feature looks like a different version of Google's Pixel Magic Eraser.
The company says you can use this tool to change backgrounds like the sky and more. AI tools even allow you to smooth a subject's skin and complete a series of automatic smart corrections. Additionally, Photoshop Elements 2024 uses AI for the all-new Artistic Effect options, allowing you to completely transform images into something that looks like a well-known work of art.
Adobe's Sensei AI also lets you enhance JPEG files to remove artifacts, creating a more "smooth, natural look." This will give users more control.
As for Premiere, the popular video editing software suite, it now uses artificial intelligence to automatically create highlight reels from the footage you've already uploaded. The company says these AI-generated clips "will engage viewers with the highest quality motion, close-ups and footage."
Of course, this is an overall upgrade to Elements, so there are various kinds of features that don't include AI features. Photoshop now features upgraded color and tone presets, reels that can be saved as MP4s or GIFs, a host of new one-click editing options, and an aesthetic facelift that unifies it all. There's even Guided Edits, which teaches you how to apply the various tools as you go.
Premiere features a number of new sound effects, such as reverb, and a number of built-in presets to create a unique atmosphere. Just as Photoshop has been redesigned to offer a "fresh look" and access to a similar collection of tutorial-based guided edits.
Both software suites are now available for purchase either as individual applications or in the Adobe Creative Cloud bundle that includes all of Adobe's creative applications.
